Donate Emergency Supplies for Homeless Students and Youth.
Working closely with homeless youth service providers and Homeless Liaisons in Chicago Public Schools, we’ve developed an online giving campaign targeted at getting urgently needed items directly into the hands of homeless youth in Chicago schools and shelters. Join the campaign on causevox.com!
Ask Mayor Rahm Emanuel to Dedicate $1 Million to Support Homeless Students in the Chicago City Budget.
This past school year, 22,144 Chicago Public School students experienced homelessness. Ask Mayor Emanuel to dedicate $1 million to serve the city’s homeless students. The CPS office of Students in Temporary Living Situations needs funding for resources such as transportation assistance, outreach, tutoring and social services.
Ask Illinois State Legislators to Restore $3 Million In Homeless Education Funding.
This past year, Illinois public schools identified 59,112 students as homeless. You can honor the struggles of homeless youth in Illinois by asking your state legislators to restore funding to homeless education. Homeless students need support now – they can’t wait until next year!
Urge your U.S. Senators and Representatives to Authorize The Runaway and Homeless Youth and Trafficking Prevention Act (RHYTPA).
In every American community, youth are kicked out or run away from home, exit the juvenile justice system with nowhere to go, become orphans, and/or exit the child welfare system with no supports to enable successful transitions to adulthood. The Runaway and Homeless Youth and Trafficking Prevention Act (RHYTPA) authorizes grant programs that provide critical services to homeless and runaway youth.
