Kasey Receives 30 Under 30 Award
/Each year, the Windy City Times highlights 30 individuals under the age of 30 that are thriving in "LGBTQIA activism, business, culture, non-profit work and more." With its 15th Annual Awards, this Chicago publication honored one of our stars, Kasey, for her incredible advocacy efforts.
Awards were presented on June 26th at The Center on Halstead. The night's MC noted that "Kasey's insights provide an intimate look at the problems that face homeless and LGBTQIA youth," before giving Kasey the floor to speak on her own behalf.
"I was being an advocate without even realizing it," Kasey said during her acceptance speech. Every conversation she has elevates people's awareness, and her eloquence translates perfectly to when she addresses crowds.
Kasey's homeless and LGBTQ activism predates her featured role in The Homestretch; in 2012 she made her own documentary called "Home Sweet Home?" which premiered at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth. Her strong voice and innovative ideas are focal points in both films.
